Do the architectural and structural (static) projects proceed separately or together?
Architectural and structural (static) projects are prepared by separate disciplines, yet they proceed with continuous and collaborative coordination for the safety and legal compliance of the building. While the architect determines the aesthetic and functional aspects of the design, the structural engineer calculates and secures the load-bearing system within this design.

How does the architectural project preparation process work?
In the first stage, the client's brief is gathered (number of rooms, usage type, expectations). Next, the zoning status of the plot is examined, and the building conditions are determined. Preliminary design sketches are prepared and shared with the client. After approval, the final design is drawn, and 3D visuals are prepared. In the final stage, it is converted into a building permit project and submitted to the municipality. The right to revision is granted at every stage.

Is it mandatory to have an architectural project drawn up?
Yes, an architectural project is a legal requirement for all types of construction in Turkey. According to the Zoning Law, an architectural project prepared by a licensed architect and approved by the municipality and zoning directorate is required to obtain a building permit. The project must include floor plans, sections, elevations, a roof plan, and details. Structures without a project are considered unlicensed and carry the risk of demolition.
